Under 10 Rangers and Trojans Shine at Milton Keynes Indoor Festival

mkdj7 Indoor Festival 2007The Under 10 Rangers and Trojan squad entered 2 teams in to the Milton Keynes & District Junior Sevens Indoor Festival held at Stantonbury Campus. The event included teams from around Milton Keynes and also featured local teams from Southcott Owls and Woodisde.

Playing in separate qualifying leagues both sides managed to finish top of their respective groups to reach the knock out stage and present the mouth watering prospect of an all Town final. Rangers cruised through all their qualifmkdj7 Indoor Festival 2007 01ying games while Trojans met a determined Woodside who held them to a draw.

Winning through to the semi-finals both sides were looking confident to make it an all Leighton Town final. Trojans overcame Moretonville Juniors with a commanding performance and booked their place in the final. Mean while Rangers were finding it a harder prospect against a physical MK Wanderers side. Trailing by a goal for much of the match, a last minute equaliser took the game to penalties. Unfortunately Rangers’ luck ran out as they were beaten in the penalty shoot out.

In the final Trojans played some excellent football and always looked in complete control. Work doggedly for each other and giving MK Wanderers very little opportunity the team went on to become 4 -1 winners and worthy Champions.

Brett Freeman lifted the trophy for the Trojans to the cheers of a large contingent of the ‘Red Army’. The Trojans will be presented with their trophy ... again ... during half-time at MK Dons game against Macclesfield on 10th February.
